Nick George Tzortzoudakis, 67, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Sunday, June 24, 2018, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha, Iowa.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m., with 7 p.m. Trisagion, Wednesday, June 27, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Funeral service: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 28, at St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Nick was born May 6, 1951, in Cedar Rapids, the son of George and Marika (Anogianakis) Tzortzoudakis. He moved to Greece as a child and graduated from high school there before returning to Cedar Rapids. Nick was a chef, a musician, a guitar player and a singer. He performed as Nick Tz and in the band, Street Level. Well-known around the Cedar Rapids music scene, Nick was a unique character who spoke fluent Greek and surrounded himself with many friends.
Nick is survived by his many caring friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Marika; and his brother, John Tzortzoudakis.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church.
