MARION - The Marion Independent school board this week extended the contract of Superintendent Chris Dyer through the 2018-19 school year. The three-year contract - the maximum allowed by the state - replaces a two-year contract signed when Dyer was hired last year.
Marion School Board President David Law called the three-year contract a 'vote of confidence” for the second-year superintendent.
Dyer will be paid $164,480 for the upcoming school year, an increase of 2.8 percent. He will receive the same benefits as other administrators.
Action was taken after school board members completed a review of the superintendent's job performance.
The Marion board's next meeting will be July 18. It will begin with a 4:30 p.m. work session to discuss the district's five-year facilities plan.
