Around world, Islam persecutes non-Muslims
The Gazette Opinion Staff

Regarding the June 27 guest column by Shams Ghoneim: The author presents a picture of Islam as a religion that seeks “peace, inclusion, understanding and equality.”
However, from what I have read and heard, this is the opposite of how Islam treats non-Muslims in the dozen or more countries in which Muslims dominate and Sharia law is implemented. For example, try reading the Bible in public or wearing a cross around your neck in Saudi Arabia.
Muslims in our country enjoy the rule of American law that prevents violence or hate speech against any religion. Do Christians or Jews in Muslim countries enjoy that? Just ask the Christians fleeing Bagdad now. You should be publishing the other side to this story.
