Beyer named All-Metro football player of the year

CEDAR RAPIDS - The spoils of the best football season in school history continue for Cedar Rapids Kennedy.
The Cougars have five players named to the All-Metro first team, including Player of the Year Shaun Beyer. Kennedy's Brian White and his assistants are Coaching Staff of the Year.
Kennedy finished 13-1, losing only to West Des Moines Dowling in the Class 4A state championship game. Its first-teamers are Beyer, who recently committed to the University of Iowa, Tyler Dralle and Mason Jacobs on offense, and Dalles Jacobus and Austin Coates on defense.
The teams are picked by the seven Metro head coaches, with individual positions not included, other than kicker and punter. Beyer also was named first-team punter.
Xavier had six first-team picks, including kicker Dallas Klein. Other Saints honored were Bryce Schulte, Malaki Wilson and Nick Stark on offense and Sean Murphy and Bryce Charipar on defense.
Washington had four first-team picks: Isaiah Nimmers (a Northern Iowa commit) and Tavian Patrick on offense, Rane Weiland and O'Rien Vance on defense. Jefferson's first-teamers are Tavian Rashed and Jared Eivins on offense and Valentino Green on defense.
Also on the first-team offense are Prairie's Jalen Rima and Tyler Nunemaker, Linn-Mar's Reese Phillips and Dallas McFarland, and Marion's Gage Kray. Other first-team defenders are Prairie's Taylor Mehmen and Linn-Mar's Logan Hagmeier.
