Olga C. Sikir, 82, died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, at Belle Plaine Nursing & Rehab following an extended illness. Funeral Services will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, at First Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine, with the Rev. Dean Duncan officiating. Interment will be in Keystone Cemetery near Keystone. Friends may call at the church in Belle Plaine from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, the 18th.
Olga was born June 18, 1931, near Keystone to Alfred and Stella (Holst) Holst and graduated from Keystone High School in 1949. On Sept. 16, 1956, she was united in marriage to Vernon Sikir in Belle Plaine. He preceded her in death on June 15, 2013.
Olga was employed in the packaging department of Collins Radio before her retirement.
She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine, where she enjoyed membership in the Ladies Mission Society. She enjoyed gardening, planting flowers and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Olga is survived by her children, Paul (Jody) Sikir of Madison, Wis., Keith (Amy) Sikir of Camby, Ind., Sylvia Sikir of Waterloo and Sheila (Mark) Ward of Fort Myers, Fla.; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; her brothers, Byron (Sharon) Holst of Keystone and Lester (Kay) Holst of Indianola; and her sister, Carol McGinnis of Cedar Rapids.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Lois Marie Sikir; her brother, Harvey Holst; and her sister, Ruth Dvorak.
A memorial fund has been established for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
