Mitchell Keith Fischer, 33, passed suddenly on Monday, Dec. 8, 2014.
Funeral services will be held at St. John Lutheran Church in Keystone with the Rev. B. Andrew Wright officiating on Saturday, Dec. 13, at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at the Keystone Cemetery. Following the service, a Celebration of Life will be held at the Keystone Turner Hall. Friends may call at Phillips Funeral Home in Keystone from 3 to 8 p.m. on Friday.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
Mitch was born on Nov. 15, 1981, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Mike and Sheryl (Selken) Fischer. He graduated from Benton Community High School (Class of 2000) and Kirkwood Community College.
He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Keystone. Mitch was a very active bow and shotgun deer hunter. He loved camping and going boating in his Baja, especially at Lake Rathbun. He had a talent for construction and all things mechanical, being very meticulous with his work. He loved to learn and was even known as the "book of knowledge" among friends. Mitch was admired for his honesty and integrity. He made friends quickly and was dedicated to his family.
Mitch is survived by his parents, Mike and Sheryl Fischer; his sister, Michelle (Tyler Jentz) Fischer; his significant other, Brooke Bige; his paternal grandparents, Kenneth and Jean Fischer; his maternal grandparents, Duane and Darlus Selken; his aunts, Sharla Selken and Rita (Dick) Humble; his cousins, Joel and Alex Humble; his beloved dog, Duke; and his many friends.
