Fellmet, Helen Mae
Helen Mae Fellmet, 87, died Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010, at the Keystone Nursing Care Center after a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at at Phillips Funeral Home in Keystone, with the Rev. Dr. James Eggert officiating. Interment will be held at Keystone Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
A memorial fund has been established for the Keystone Nursing Care Center.
Helen was born July 22, 1922, at Dysart, to John and Caroline (Stroh) Cohrt, the eighth of 10 children. She attended school in the Dysart/Geneseo area. Helen worked for Collins Radio during World War II and married Robert Jackson Fellmet on June 7, 1946. She worked with her husband, “Jack” from 1956 until 1988, operating Fellmet Funeral Home in Keystone. She was once an active member of the Legion Auxiliary and served as a Blue Lady volunteer at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Iowa City. She was a past member of the Key Ladies and the women's bowling league.
Helen is survived by her children, David (Anna) Fellmet of Cedar Rapids and Debra (Ronald) Clemann of Keystone; her five grandchildren, Tracy (Mike) Wazac of Riverside, Kristin Fellmet of Cedar Rapids, Jamey (Tracy) Clemann and Ryan Clemann, both of Keystone, and Hollie (Lucas) Garwood of Vinton; her seven great-grandchildren, Evan and Caroline Wazac, Nathan, Cameron, Brayden and Jackson Clemann and Reed Garwood; her sisters, Ella Potter of Keystone and Velma Childers of Cedar Rapids; and her brother, Fred Cohrt of Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, “Jack”; three sisters; and three brothers.
