FREDA KEARNEY Center Point Freda Kearney, 89, formerly of Center Point, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2015, at Heritage Nursing and Rehab Center, Cedar Rapids. Funeral services: 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point, with the Rev. Larry Daubs officiating. The family will greet friends from 11 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at the funeral home. Burial: Center Point Cemetery, Center Point. She is survived by her sons, Robert Jr. (Denise), Kevin (Deb) and David (Shareen), all of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren, Steven, Kari, Melissa, Dawn, Kassi, Kevin Jr. and Mitchell; and her special granddaughter, Michele (Bailey); and nine great-grandchildren. Freda was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter, Karen Kearney; two brothers, Harold and Rollie; and three sisters, Adeline, Annabelle and Phylis. Freda was born to her parents, Emil and Louise (Matthews) Frozene in Coloma, Wis., on Nov. 11, 1925. Before her marriage, Freda worked in an ammunition plant in Wisconsin where she met her husband, Robert. They married in Minnesota and later moved to Iowa where they farmed for many years. She and Robert were charter members of Victory Baptist Church. Freda had a special place in her heart for her family and friends. She always looked forward to spending time with them, which included playing Scrabble, bingo and reading Bible verses. A memorial fund has been established in Freda's memory.
