Elgin, Robert F.
Robert F. Elgin, 78, of Center Point, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2011. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 28, at Alice United Methodist Church by Pastors Leo and Sheri Anderson. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point. Burial: Center Point Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanette; a son, Don (Nancy) of Center Point; a daughter, Kim of Moline; five grandchildren, Summer (Jeff) Hagy, Sam Elgin, Emily and Megan Rasche and Kelsey (Josh) Northcutt; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Erma Carman of Hiawatha; and two brothers, Ervin of Center Point, and Marvin of Vinton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Susan; a sister, Bernita Elgin; and a brother, Lyle.
Robert was born August 5, 1932, the son of Elce and Beulah (Boyles) Elgin in Center Point. On August 3, 1951, he married Jeanette Bowler at Center Point EUB Church. He worked in maintenance at Rockwell Collins for 35 years.
Robert attended Alice United Methodist Church and was a member of the Center Point Booster Club. He enjoyed the CUBS, fishing, watching Sam and Emily play ball and his faithful dog, Blinky.
