Teresa Jo (Young) Smart, 57, of Marion, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2019, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, at the funeral home conducted by the Rev. Mike Morgan. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion.
Teresa was born Nov. 26, 1961, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of William and Arlyne (Diesch) Young. She graduated from Marion High School and attended Hamilton Business College. On Aug. 28, 1982, in Marion, Teresa was united in marriage to Joel Smart. She was employed at A.E.S. Seal in Marion. She was a member of the North Linn Fish and Game Club and Well Armed Women. Teresa enjoyed spending time with her family, scrapbooking, fishing, bowling and playing pool.
She is survived by her husband, Joel Smart of Marion; son, Dustin (fiancee, Kathryn Lee) Smart of North Liberty; siblings, Rebecca (Tom) Tipton of Carroll, Robert (Sherry) Bissell of Wellington, Kan., and Deborah (Richard) Bird of Cedar Rapids.
Teresa was preceded in death by her parents; son, Kyle Smart; and brother, Jerry Young.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Teresa's memory may be directed to Camp Courageous in Monticello.
