DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Des Moines fire officials say a washcloth that was overheated in a microwave oven caused a house fire that caused $25,000 in damage.
Two residents of the home escaped without injury early Thursday.
Fire Capt. Steve Brown says the fire was started by a washcloth that was overheated in the microwave and then tossed outside next to some empty boxes.
Brown says the boxes caught on fire. The fire then worked its way up to back of the house to the attic.
