MICHAEL LEE "MIKE" VORWALD

Michael Lee "Mike" Vorwald, 64, of Manchester, Iowa, took his final "Take 5" surrounded by family and friends on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Jean Vorwald of Manchester; his two children, Christel (Chad) Manson of Quasqueton and Christopher (Ashley) Vorwald of Plainfield, Ill.; three grandchildren, Connor Manson, Addalyn Vorwald and Avery Vorwald; his mother, Germaine Vorwald of Edgewood; three siblings, Patricia (Lyle) Chittick of Anthem, Ariz., Jeff "Burly" Vorwald of Edgewood and Scott (Vicki) Vorwald of Prairie du Chien, Wis.; his mother-in-law, Helen Jennings of Manchester; nieces, nephews and cousins; and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.

His healthcare providers named him the "Gentle Giant."

The family would like to thank the teams of Ann Mead, Dr. Hlavin, Dr. Buntinas, UnityPoint Palliative Care and Hospice and the Good Neighbor Home Society for the kind and compassionate care that Mike received.

Funeral service: 11 a.m. Monday, March 19, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester, with the Rev. Joseph Schneider officiating.

Visitation: 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 18, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Manchester, where there will be a 2 p.m. Scripture service. Friends also may call one hour before the service at the church on Monday.

Interment: St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Manchester.
