Raymond E. DeLarm, 92, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017, at Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Services: 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Papich-Kuba Funeral Home East, 1228 Second St. SE. Burial with military honors will follow at Czech National Cemetery.
Raymond is survived by his sons, Michael (Diane) of K-town, Germany, and Mitch (Mary Lou Cantrell) of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren, Danny and Selina DeLarm, Savanna (Travis) Nunemaker, Christopher (Jennifer) DeLarm, Jesse Jordan, Dusty and Shanna Cantrell; eight great-grandchildren, Caden, Alexander, Amelia, Jameson, Jamarqus, Curtis, Oliver and Trenton; brothers, Richard and Donald DeLarm; sisters, Margie and Judy; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth; infant son, Mark, and son, Raymond Thomas; his parents, Willis and Ruth (Taylor) DeLarm; and brothers, David, Carl and Charles (Brenda) DeLarm.
Raymond was born March 8, 1925, in Maquoketa and farmed in that area as a young man. He married Ruth Johnson on Nov. 11, 1956, in Waukon; Ruth died April 1, 2005. Raymond had worked for Penick and Ford Co. and later for Amana Refrigeration until his retirement. Never one to be idle, he also was a self-employed roofer.
He was an Army and Coast Guard veteran of World War II and received the Medal of Valor for injuries suffered in the line of duty.
Raymond was a member of Cedar Rapids Grace Church and also Adolph H. Schueler American Legion Post 217 in Atkins.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Cedar Rapids Grace Church and Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy.
