Campbell, Laverne
Laverne Campbell, 86, of Cedar Rapids, passed away April 25, 2013, following an extended illness. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, April 29, at Calvary Baptist Church in Cedar Rapids, with Pastor Jay Jentink presiding. Interment will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery following a reception at the church. Visitation is 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Laverne was born July 18, 1926, in Guntown, Miss., to Quitman and Sula (Hester) Braden. She was married Feb. 4, 1949, to Floyd E. Campbell in Aberdeen, Miss.
Laverne is survived by her three sons, Tommy (Ruth) Campbell, Roger (Judy) Campbell and Mark (Carrie) Campbell; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters and one brother; longtime family friend, Kirby Kirchner; and beloved cat, Lucky.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Floyd; and two sisters.
Laverne spent most of her time serving in her church and enjoying her family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to St. Luke's Hospice Unit at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
