Charles V. Quinn, 90, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2015. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Saturday, May 16, at All Saints Catholic Church, with the Rev. John R. Flaherty officiating. Entombment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 3:30 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 15, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, where a vigil service will be at 5:30 p.m.
Survivors include three daughters, Chris Rosen (Harvey) of Fallbrook, Calif., Kim Holtz (Michael) of Windsor, Colo., and Jackie Quinn of Johnston; three sons, Mike (Joanne) of Loveland, Colo., Pat (Vivian) of Cedar Rapids and Steve (John Tarrant) of Toronto, Ontario, Canada; one son-in-law, Steve Fox of Modesto, Calif.; cherished and loved friend, Donna Roth; numerous nieces and nephews; 12 grandchildren; and 10.5 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marjorie; his amazing daughter, Nancy Fox; his parents, two brothers and six sisters.
Charlie was born May 12, 1924, in Parnell, the son of Michael and Margaret Quinn. He attended Williamsburg Public Schools for 11 years, then graduated from Cedar Rapids St. Patrick's High School, class of 1942. He married Marjorie A. Gaffney on Sept. 14, 1946, at Immaculate Conception Church. Charlie worked in construction equipment sales. In 1967, he was co-founder and partner with his wife in opening Quinn Equipment Inc. In 1997, their son, Pat, and his wife, Vivian, purchased the company.
He was an active member of All Saints Catholic Church, Regis High School Booster Club and an avid (not good, just avid) golfer at Fawn Creek Country Club and Indian Creek Country Club.
Charlie was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and business partner.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Hospice of Mercy, Cedar Rapids.
