Metcalf, Linda Carol
Linda Carol Metcalf, 62, of Shellsburg, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids following a long illness. A Celebration of Life service will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 11, at Van Steenhuyse-Russell Funeral Home in Vinton. Linda's niece, Marla King, will officiate. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 10, also at the funeral home, and one hour before services on Monday. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Shellsburg.
Linda was born Aug. 18, 1950, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Samuel Harold and Sarah Elizabeth Simpson Henning. She graduated from Northeast High School in Kansas City. On July 25, 1998, Linda committed her life and love to her companion, Teresa Bowdel, in Kansas City.
Linda worked as a retail clerk in various stores in Kansas City. She enjoyed collecting dolls and M&M figurines.
Linda is survived by her companion, Teresa Bowdel of Shellsburg; two daughters, Stephanie Zolotor of Kansas City, Mo., and Elizabeth Johnson of Sandwich, Ill.; two grandsons, Joseph and Aleksandr Zolotor of Kansas City, Mo.; great-great-niece, Amorie Arn of Kansas City, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Roberta (Lloyd) Coody and Alice (Conrad) Dowell; granddaughter, Inara Parrett; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial fund has been established.
