MediRevv plans third building, continuing ongoing expansion
Jul. 27, 2015 7:20 pm
MediRevv hasn't been in its new building for a full year, and the Coralville company already is planning another expansion.
Much of the details still need to be worked out, said Brad Baldwin, MediRevv's vice president of operations, but the health care accounts-receivable management company is working with the city of Coralville to secure funding - in the form of a forgivable loan - to construct a third building.
The city council will consider adding the project to its urban renewal plan at Tuesday's meeting.
Coralville City Administrator Kelly Hayworth said MediRevv and the city still have to hash out the fine print, including how many jobs the company plans to create, MediRevv's investment and the city's financial commitment.
MediRevv has seen big growth since it started in 2007 with only six employees.
By 2012 it housed 80 people in a 20,000-square-foot building, and by 2013 it needed to build a second, 22,000-square-foot facility. It added another 80 jobs along with medical coding services and eligibility management services.
The company now employs about 290, Baldwin said.
He said the company is OK on space these days but is planning for growth as it can take a year to get a new building up and ready.
MediRevv wants to stay in Coralville, Baldwin said, adding the company would like the third facility to be located adjacent to the other two, in the University of Iowa Research Park.
Baldwin believes plans will become more clear in the next few months.
'These are just the preliminary discussions on physical space,” he said. 'We're trying to work out what our needs are.”
MediRevv coders Julie Vogel of Washington (left) and Jessie Ehlinger of Solon review OB-Gyn coding in the ICD-10 at MediRevv in Coralville on Tuesday, March 31, 2015. ICD-9 codes are numeric, but ICD-10 codes are alpha-numeric, so medical coders are learning the new codes in advance of the October switch. (Liz Martin/The Gazette)
