BETTY WHIPPLE Cedar Rapids Betty Jean Whipple, 58, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday. Survivors include many beloved cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. Betty Jean was born on Feb. 24, 1957, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Kenneth and Dorothy Dunn Whipple. She was the joy of her parent's life. Betty was lifelong resident of Cedar Rapids and graduated from Mount Mercy College. She worked at Transamerica/Aegon as a pension processor for several years. Betty was an accomplished violinist and greatly enjoyed researching and sharing family genealogy. She was a supporter of animal rescue and the special loves of her life were her kitties, Augie, Lilybelle, Rosie and Jigs. Betty was a bright, intelligent woman who had a large generous heart. She bore adversity with impressive strength, courage and above all optimism. A memorial fund has been established.
