Two teenage siblings were hurt when the driver swerved to miss a deer near West Union on Thursday.
Cody T. Bouska, 18, of Hawkeye, was driving on 240th Street around 1:40 p.m. when he crested a hill just west of Neon Road and encountered a deer in the roadway, according to Fayette County authorities. Bouska swerved to miss the deer and lost control of the car.
The vehicle crashed into a bridge and Bouska was ejected, authorities said. His sister, Allison N. Bouska, 15, of Hawkeye, was inside the vehicle when it came to rest.
Both teens were taken by ambulance to Palmer Lutheran Health Center in West Union. Cody Bouska was later air-lifted to Gundersen Lutheran Health Center in LaCrosse, Wis., where he was listed in serious condition Friday morning.
Allison Bouska was treated and released from Palmer Lutheran, a hospital spokeswoman said.
The accident remains under investigation.
