WILHEMINA A. (SKALSKY) CARSON
Columbia, Mo.
Wilhemina A. (Skalsky) Carson, 101, passed away Sunday, June 24, 2018, at the new Lenoir Woods Care Center in Columbia, Mo. She was born May 30, 1917, the only child of William and Tillie Skalsky of Ely, Iowa.
She married Roy L. Carson in 1938, and he preceded her in death in 1994.
She graduated from Ely High School in Ely, Iowa, and from Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, with a two-year teaching degree. She taught at Roger's Grove Elementary School. Wilma enjoyed nature and was a happy Iowa farm wife, living on the farm where she was born and married.
At retirement, Wilma and husband Roy enjoyed a new lifestyle in Sun City, Ariz. With husband Roy's death and aging years, she moved closer to her son in Columbia, Mo., living in Lenoir Woods independent living complex for 14 years. Surviving are son, Bill, and wife Toni, in Columbia, Mo.; daughter, Mary, and husband, Sydney Walston, of Frankfort, Mich.; four grandchildren, Suzie (Carson) Dunkerley of Jenks, Okla., Butch Carson of Overland Park, Kan., Lisa (Walston) Shaffer of Westminster, Md., and Jeffrey Walston of Tranverse City, Mich.; five great-grandchildren, Antoinette Dunkerley of Jenks, Okla., Julia and Nicholas Carson of Overland Park, Kan., and Gracie and Emilie Shaffer of Westminster, Md.; and one great-great-grandson, Levi Shaffer of Westminster, Md.
Friends will be received from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 30, 2018, at the First Presbyterian Church, Ely, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Interment will follow in Rodgers Grove Cemetery. Expression of sympathy may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
