Long, Dennis E.
Dennis E. Long, 74, of Fairfax, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, unexpectedly in Lake Havasu City, Ariz. Services: 3 p.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Dr. Kay Slocum. Burial: Fairfax Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Monday at Teahen Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, from 4 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday after 2 p.m. at the church.
Dennis is survived by four sons, Mike of Cedar Rapids, Mark (Denise) of Atkins, Monte (Kris) of Lisbon and Mabry (Suzie) of Norway; daughter-in law, Peg Long of Des Moines; nine grandchildren, Dennis G. (Tracy) Long, Tanya (Joe) DeNoyer, Darrell (Daniela) K. Long, Jessica (Lance) Paulsen, Eric (Amber) Long, Jennifer (Eric) Greve, Matthew Long, Keri (Denny) Zimmerman and Ryan (Courtney) Long; eight great-grandchildren, Toby Rath, Brock Crane, Levi Rath, Isac DeNoyer, Kylah, Siera, Kayden and Paige Long; a sister, Darlene Wibben of Winona, Minn.; brother, Darrell (Gail) Long; and sister-in-law, Judy (Ladell) Olson of Eagle Grove.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marlys (2011); parents, George and Murial Long; and brother-in-law, Jerry Wibben.
Dennis was born Sept. 18, 1938, in Lone Rock, the son of George B. and Murial E. (Ackerson) Long. He married Marlys R. Jentz on June 9, 1957. He was employed in the trucking industry for many years.
Dennis and Marlys enjoyed traveling and camping. Family and friends were the most important thing to him and he will be dearly missed by all.
