Root, Carolyn M. Pedersen
LADORA - Carolyn M. Pedersen Root, 72, of Marengo, formerly of Ladora and Cedar Rapids, died Oct. 6, 2010, at Rose Haven Nursing Home, Marengo. Memorial visitation will be held Sunday, Oct. 10, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Kloster Funeral Home in Marengo. Private graveside services will be at a later date at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
Carolyn is survived by her children, Debbie Graham and Gus (Beth Karr) England, both Cedar Rapids, and Cathy (Todd) Essick, Ladora; five grandchildren, Kevin Graham and wife Lori, Sara Graham, Jake Graham and wife Frannie, Alexandra Miller and Clayton George Essick; one stepgranddaughter, Makenzie Essick; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Pedersen and Mike Pedersen, both of Cedar Rapids; and special friends, Jackie Floerchinger, Scotta Morrison, Bernna Deane Hawkins, Kathy Porter and Suzie Olson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and a sister, Jordis Stoneking.
Carolyn Marie Root was born Sept. 24, 1938, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Osvald and Sarah Pedersen. She attended Roosevelt High School, Cedar Rapids, with the class of 1957. She married George Root on Aug. 7, 1970. Carolyn was a huge fan of women's sports and was a lifelong antiques collector and animal lover.
