If you live in Kirkwood Community College Board District 9, please vote Sept. 10 to re-elect John Swanson to the college's board of directors. I worked with Swanson at Kirkwood and I must share with you the enthusiasm and dedication he brings to his work and his responsibilities.
As an employee at Kirkwood, he was focused on student achievement - he wanted students to learn as well as enjoy their time at Kirkwood. As a board member, he has maintained a focus on student success and quality teaching. He participates in numerous student, faculty and alumni activities, and he has a 96 percent attendance record at board meetings.
He has been active in the community where he serves as an ambassador of the college. He has served on the following boards of directors: Cedar Rapids Community Theatre, Linn County Historical Museum, and Greater Downtown Cedar Rapids. He was chairman of the Cedar Rapids-Marion Fine Arts Council; cubmaster, Cub Scout Pack 25; and assistant scoutmaster, Boy Scout Troop 28. He served on the Accountability Review Team, United Way of Eastern Iowa, and now serves on their Solutions team. He was president and trustee of the Westminster Church Foundation.
We want Swanson on the Kirkwood board for another four years. Please vote.
