Ida Shonka, 81, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Sunday, Feb. 14, 2016, at Willow Gardens Care Center, Marion. Visitation: noon to 1:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Graveside service: following visitation at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Fairfax.
Ida is survived by her children, Denise (Dennis) Keifer, Patricia (Louis) Yeater, Leonard Shonka Jr., Jo Davis and Lynn Shonka; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many brothers and sisters.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Leonard.
Ida was born on Aug. 7, 1934, in Fairfax, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Margaret (Schulte) Stallman. In 1955, she married Leonard Arthur Shonka Sr. at St. Patrick's Church in Fairfax. Ida loved her grandchildren and was a great wife and mother. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family and going to Mass at St. Ludmila's Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice of Mercy.
