Four players scored in double figures, with forward David Kacmarynski scoring 15 and pulling down 12 rebounds ... CLASS 3A SEMIFINALS
Cedar Rapids Xavier (17-8) vs. Dubuque Wahlert (16-9)
When: 8:15 p.m.
Where: Wells Fargo Arena, Des Moines
Scouting Report: Two schools with a rich basketball tradition meet in the semifinals. Wahlert knocked off second-seeded Waverly-Shell Rock in the quarterfinals, 60-50, pulling away late. Unheralded guard David Wedewer was huge with five 3-pointers and 19 points. Xavier survived Pella's furious second-half comeback attempt in its quarterfinal, 65-61. The Saints led by as many as 19 points, only to have the Dutch come back within a point. Adam McDermott was money for Xavier, scoring 24 points, including making 15 of 16 free-throw attempts. Forward Calvin Winker (12.7 PPG) provides the Saints' lone real interior threat and must play well offensively and defensively ... Xavier won late in the regular season at home, 78-74.
