Letter: Legalizing fireworks not a good idea

Who is responsible for the newly legalized sale of fireworks in Iowa? It seems like it suddenly came out of nowhere as a done deal.

Who thought this would be a good idea? I don't believe that the inconsiderate people who are lighting strings of firecrackers and M80s in their backyards at 1 a.m. drove to Des Moines en masse to lobby the legislature for this bill. But someone did.

I'm asking The Gazette to publish an article letting us know which legislators voted for this so we know who not to vote for next time. And by 'us” I mean parents of babies, dog owners, people who like to sleep with their windows open, returning veterans, and, oh yeah, people who have to get up to go to work in the morning. This is ridiculous!
