Robert J. "Bob" Moyer, 79, of South English, died Friday, June 23, 2017, at his home.
Bob was born Dec. 17, 1937, in rural North English, the son of David and Iva (Good) Moyer. He graduated from Kinross High School. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 until 1958. On Oct. 2, 1957, he married Carolyn Braia in Reno, Nev. A lifelong resident of the North and South English communities, Bob was a personnel administrator at Amana Refrigeration for 41 years, retiring in 2000. He was a member of the South English Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. Bob enjoyed golfing, fishing, mushrooming, hunting, trapping, rock hunting, dancing and wood carving.
Survivors include his son, Robert Randal (Valerie) Moyer of Iowa City; two daughters, Suzanne Louise (Stephen) Hedges of Oxford and Cynthia Ellen (Irvin) Hovell of Galesville, Wis.; three grandsons, Michael Hedges, Travis Hedges and Erik Moyer; and a sister, Grace Marian Williamson of Coggon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carolyn; sister, Berneice E. Anderson; two brothers, Dean M. Moyer and David S. Moyer; and stepbrother, Raymond A. Moyer.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, June 26, at Powell Funeral Home in North English with Pastor Joe Winkler officiating. Burial will be at a later date at South English Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 25, at the funeral home.
