Mary Jeanne Hruska, 85,
of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, Dec. 18, 2016, at Pinicon Place in Anamosa. Funeral Mass will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with Father Chris Podhajsky presiding. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW.
Mary Jeanne was born Feb. 8, 1931, on a family farm near Parnell in Iowa County, the daughter of William Henry and Margaret (Jennings) Bushman. Mary Jeanne was united in marriage to Robert "Bob" Hruska on Aug. 6, 1949, in Cedar Rapids. Jeanne worked for many years as an office manager. She enjoyed buying gifts for her family as well as many children at church and was known by many as "Grandma Jeanne."
Jeanne is survived by her sons, Robert A. (Elizabeth) Hruska of Anamosa and Mark W. (Toni) Hruska of Dover, Fla.; her three grandchildren, Arianne Patterson of Marion, Maj. Robert Todd (Kara) Hruska of Hopewell, Va., and Daniel Hruska (Jennifer Pereira) of Spring Hill, Fla.; a stepgranddaughter, Michelle Pate of Sammamish, Wash.; six great-grandchildren, Cassidy, Garrett, Andrew, Meghann, Aidan and Ariyah; a step-great-grandchild, Isabelle; her sisters, Helen Ko of Northbrook, Ill., Marita (Gilbert) Lawrence of Hiawatha and Phyllis (Rick) Jennings of Cedar Rapids; as well as her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert, on Oct. 23, 2016; her sisters, Agnes Marie Palmer and Ann Bushman; and her brother, Col. William Bushman.
