James Stainbrook, 32, of rural Ireton, died suddenly on Sunday, March 20, 2016, at the Hawarden Regional Healthcare Hospital. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ireton with the Rev. Michael Boothby officiating. Visitation will begin at noon Thursday, with the family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 8 p.m., at Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden, Iowa.

James Michael Stainbrook was born Dec. 12, 1983, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Jim and Ann (Reiland) Stainbrook. He graduated from Independence High School in 2002 and from the University of Northern Iowa. He worked as an environmental geologist for three years in Kansas City before moving to Cedar Rapids where he received his degree as a physical therapist assistant from Kirkwood.
James married Abby Ten Napel on Sept. 12, 2009, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ireton. They returned to rural Ireton in 2014, where he worked at Unity Point-St. Luke's in Sioux City and lastly at Crown Pointe in Sioux Center.
James' number one priority in life was his wife, Abby, and their two children. He loved his family and caring for others with his work. He enjoyed the outdoors and hunting in all kinds of weather.
Survivors include his wife, Abby; two children, Keira and Ian; his parents, Jim and Ann of Wellsburg; two sisters, Kim Stainbrook of Anamosa and Melissa and husband Ryan Arnevik and their children, Alaina, Averie and Ayden, of Centerville; his maternal grandparents, Ray and Catherine Reiland of Iowa City; and Abby's family, her parents, Robert and Cheryl Ten Napel; her two brothers, Chris and wife Jill Ten Napel and their children, Hailey, Luke and Ella, and Eric and wife Liz Ten Napel and their daughter to be, all of Ireton; and her maternal grandparents, Nancy Schiefen of Hawarden and Bernie Schiefen of Arizona.
James was preceded in death by his grandparents, Everette and Nerme Stainbrook and Ginger Reiland.
There has been a memorial fund set up at the Iowa State Bank in Ireton for their children.
