Elmer "Keith" McKillip, 81, of Iowa City, passed away Friday, April 3, 2015, at Mercy Iowa City – hospice unit. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, April 5, at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, April 6, at the funeral home, with Pastor Charles Clink officiating. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery, Iowa City, with military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Iowa City Hospice.
Keith was born May 4, 1933, in Muscatine, Iowa, the son of Elmer and Jessie (Krueger) McKillip. He attended Muscatine High School and received a bachelor of science degree from the University of Iowa. Keith served in the Navy from 1952 to 1959. He was united in marriage to Judith Mace on May 7, 1966, in Rock Island, Ill.
Keith was a member of the Moose Lodge. He was an avid camper, bowler and Hawkeye fan.
Keith is survived by his loving wife, Judith; four children from his first marriage, Teresa Wilkes of Warner Robbins, Ga., Linda (John) Hickson of Iowa City, Brian McKillip of Iowa City and Lisa (Jeff) Evans of Amana; five children with Judith, Maureen Rogers of Hills, Christine Marshall of Osceola, Jody Phillips of Iowa City, Kimberly Rios of Kalona, John (Shannon) McKillip of Iowa City and Misty (Bobby) Herring of Homestead; one sister, Verlee Clevenger of Bluffs, Ill.; two brothers, Merlyn (Maxine) McKillip of Dewitt and Ron (Maria) McKillip of Henry, Ill. 27 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Keith was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, William H. McKillip; three sisters, Wilma Baer, Delores Walsh and Ruth Morische; one brother-in-law, Glen Clevenger; and two infant grandchildren, Brittany Herring and William Evans.
