Reader thinks city is filled with nuts

Thank you, Cedar Rapids, for planting all of those oak trees in our neighborhood.
Now that they are maturing they are producing lots of acorns, covering the ground, sidewalks and streets. It's up to the homeowners to clean up this mess.
Maybe the city was thinking of taking care of the squirrels so they would have plenty to eat this winter. They (the squirrels) have been busy planting the acorns in our yards, gardens and flower pots. The problem is the squirrels don't remember just where they planted the acorns, so now we have oak trees growing all over lawns and flower beds. Maybe the city could provide the squirrels with sticky note pads so they will have a reminder where the nuts are buried.
