Chatterton, Boyd C.
Boyd C. Chatterton, 85, died Sunday, May 15, 2011, at his home following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 20, at St. John Lutheran Church, rural Monticello, with interment in the Wyoming Cemetery. The Rev. Reed Stockman will officiate at the services. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello.

Surviving is his wife, Audrey; two children, Karen (Larry) Porath, Emmetsburg, and Dale (Kaye) Chatterton, Onslow; a son-in-law, Guy Petersen, Wyoming; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Laurie Petersen; two sisters, Twila Herren and Barbara Opheim; and an infant brother.
Boyd Calvin Chatterton was born August 4, 1925, at the John McDonald Hospital, Monticello, Iowa. He was the son of Allen and Lynne Heasty Chatterton. He received his early education in the Frozen Hill School. Boyd graduated from the Monticello Community Schools with the Class of 1944. Boyd Chatterton and Audrey Schrader were married Sept. 19, 1948, at St. Johns Lutheran Church, rural Monticello. Boyd and Audrey farmed near Onslow, Center Junction and Martelle before returning to the Onslow area to stay in 1954. Boyd had been a 4H leader for the Onslow Cornhuskers and served on the Jones County 4H Committee. He was active in the Farm Bureau and also served on the Onslow Telephone Company Board, many church boards and was an active member in the community, willing to volunteer his time to anyone who needed assistance.
