Schrader, Ellen Hokenson
Ellen Hokenson Schrader, 96, of Bloomer, Wis., formerly of Van Horne, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010, at Maplewood Nursing Home in Bloomer. Public visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 2, at Phillips Funeral Home in Keystone. Private committal services will be held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Blairstown.
Ellen was born June 14, 1914, in Vestre Toten, Norway, to Anton and Anna Hokenson. Her family settled in Cedar Rapids where she met and married George Schrader. The couple farmed together in the Van Horne area for many years until George's death.
Ellen was a member of St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Van Horne for many years before moving to Bloomer, Wis., to be near her daughter, Connie Madorin, and family.
Ellen is survived by her daughters, Connie (Jim) Madorin of Bloomer, Wis., and Donna Mae (Charles) Meyer of Savannah, Ill.; four grandsons; eight great-grandchildren; her sister, Mae Winnie of Des Moines; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ellen was preceded in death by her brother, Alfred.
