Letter: Voter fraud is not a problem in Iowa

Iowa's Secretary of State Paul Pate wants to spend $1 million to solve a problem that does not exist - voter fraud influencing Iowa elections. Pate admits that in the last election only one Iowan (a Republican who tried to vote twice) attempted voter fraud and she was caught. Pate also is not concerned that his proposal would make it harder to vote.
Pate is right that we need to be proactive defending the integrity of our elections. I propose we solve another non-existent problem - Martians imitating Republicans. Every registered Republican will need to provide a urine sample to their doctor and present a notarized statement at the polls guaranteeing that they are not a Martian. Sure, it will be a burden, but the integrity of our elections is paramount. Another non-existent problem solved.
