Ted Thorn, 72, of Iowa City, passed away Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.
A Celebration of Life is being planned for spring 2019. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Warsaw, Ill.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity, Habitat for Humanity of Knox County, Ill., or your local Habitat for Humanity.
Ted was born on April 21, 1946, in Fort Madison, Iowa, the son of Edward Charles Thorn Jr. and Doris Maloney. He was united in marriage to Alice Faught on May 27, 1967, in Fort Madison, Iowa. Ted worked for 39 years in the athletics department at the University of Iowa. Ted enjoyed cooking, fishing, hunting, wood carving and collecting cast iron.
Ted is survived by his wife of 51 years, Alice Thorn of Iowa City; two daughters, Judy Thorn (Kevin Satisky) and Emily Carlson (Kevin), both of Galesburg; three grandchildren, Samuel Satisky, William and Audrey Carlson; two sisters, Peggy Lawlor (Dan) of Florida and Melissa Reuther of Iowa; an aunt, Maureen Maloney and her two sons, Tom and Mike Maloney.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents; and Uncle, James Maloney.
