Wangeman, Martha Louise
Martha Louise Wangeman, 95, of Cottage Grove Place, Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, March 2, 2013, following a short illness. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, March 7, at Bethany Lutheran Church with the Rev. Michael Erickson officiating. Friends may call at the church after 9 a.m. Thursday. Interment will be at the Willwood Burial Park, Rockford, Ill. Arrangements are by Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.
Surviving are her sons, Richard (Patricia) Wangeman of Springfield, Va. and Dennis (Luann) Wangeman of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren, Kellie Engstrom, Kent, Wash., Jana (Lance) Hamann, Correctionville and Andrea (Kevin) Orth of Chicago; four great-grandchildren, Camric, Lizabeth and Kael Hamann and Malachi Engstrom; and she also has a brother, Leonard Harmel, Tomah, Wis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 62 years; two sisters, Irma Cleven and Ella Kerl; and two brothers, Arthur Harmel and Verlin Harmel.
Martha was born March 18, 1917, in Wilton, Wis., to Fredrick and Louise (Glander) Harmel. She married Conrad Wangeman on July 25, 1942. Conny died in 2005.
Martha lived most of her life in Rockford, Ill., where she both worked in the home and later to put her children through college worked for 21 years at Marion Medical Supply. When they moved to Cedar Rapids in 1989, Martha became a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and was a member of their Leisure League.
