Doris Joy Miller, 87, died Saturday, July 19, 2014, at Living Center West in Cedar Rapids. Services
will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 26, at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel in Cedar Rapids. The Rev. Glenn Hunt will officiate at the service. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 25, at the Westside chapel. Private family burial will be at a later date.
Surviving are her two children, Donna Jean (Lee) Borntrager of Cedar Rapids and Thomas Perry Miller of Marion; three grandchildren, Philip (Daria), Matthew (Carrie) and Nathan; and a great-grandchild, Andrew.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leland, on July 6, 1971; and brother, James Wesly Olver.
Doris Joy Miller was born March 12, 1927, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Earl and Clara Erickson Olver. On July 29, 1950, Doris and Leland Miller were united in marriage in Cedar Rapids. She was a graduate of Roosevelt High School in Cedar Rapids and attended Mount Mercy College. Doris worked for Linn County Abstract as a proofreader before retiring.
Doris was an avid Cubs and Hawkeye fan. She was a lifelong member of Eden United Church of Christ in Cedar Rapids, Koinonia, church choir, Eden Quilters, assistant organist and pianist, New Encounters, Belles and Beaus Square Dancing and Chada Pautz Fellowship.
She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will be missed dearly by those closest to her.
