Frieda Kirkpatrick, 93, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Marengo, died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2016, at her home.
Funeral service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016, at Bethany Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids, with the Rev. Michael Erickson officiating. Burial will be in Marengo Cemetery, Marengo, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Bethany Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her son, Ron (Cheryl) Kirkpatrick of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Gloria (Ed) Schumacher of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Justin Kirkpatrick, Jodi (Todd) Knebel, Joanna (Travis) Godbey, Chris (Suzanne) Schumacher and Tonya (Shawn) Samuelson; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph in 1981; two sisters; and three brothers.
Frieda Elizabeth Schoenfelder was born Dec. 15, 1922, in rural Iowa County, the daughter of George and Elizabeth (Steinmetz) Schoenfelder. On June 2, 1945, she married Ralph Kirkpatrick in Marengo. Frieda was a bookkeeper for Amana Society Bakery and then worked at Northwestern Bell until retiring. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Communications Workers of America and Lutheran Layman's League. She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.
