Jon "Eric" Payne, 40, of Solon, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 3, 2017. Memorial service: 4 p.m. Monday, April 10, at Grace Community Church, North Liberty, by Pastor Dan Bovenmeyer. Visitation and sharing of memories: one hour prior to and one hour following the memorial service at the church. Arrangements by Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his cherished wife, Angel; beloved children, Allison Payne, Megan Payne, Skye Spencer, Hunter Schrock, Rylee Schrock and Fritz Spencer; mother, Chris (Dennis) Miller; siblings, Heather (Jim) Bopp, Mandy (Allen) Warson, Dusty (Lisa) Miller, Trevor (Kim) Miller and JC Miller; maternal grandparents; many in-laws, including Monica (Kyle) Hilgenberg and Brianne Willmott; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; best friend, Tyson Gosnell; and five dogs, especially his best dog-friend, John.
Jon Eric Payne was born Oct. 1, 1976, to John and Chris (Fite) Payne, in Humansville, Mo. He graduated from Solon High School in 1995, then began trade school with the Local 236 to become an operating engineer, most recently working for RCC Communications, until becoming disabled. Eric enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time in the outdoors. He was very protective, loving and compassionate to his children and family, who will miss him dearly.
Eric was a kidney donor, saving one life, and a tissue donor, helping benefit many lives.
He was preceded in death by his father; Grandma and Poppy Payne; aunt, Mary Payne; and dog, Ike.
A memorial fund has been established in Eric's name.
