Groff, Priscilla
Priscilla Groff, 80, of Central City, died Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011, at the Hiawatha Care Center in Hiawatha. Funeral service: 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 14, First United Methodist Church, Central City, by Pastor Josh Hanson. Family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Central City. Burial: Mount Clark Cemetery, Central City.
Survivors include six children, Charles (Ilse) Groff of Cedar Rapids, Frances Overett of Cedar Rapids, Jennifer Hyland of Pittsburg, Pa., Diane (Kevin) Johnston of Marion, Eric Groff of Lincoln, Neb., and James (Carly) Groff of Fountain Valley, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Amanda (Chris) Bennett, Elizabeth (Rick) Sindelar, Jonathon Overett, Jen (Craig) Trembath, Jim Johnston, Scott Hyland and Charlie Groff; two great-grandchildren, Madison Eberle and Charlie Sindelar; and a brother, Stan (Vi) Erickson, of Elgin.
She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Evelyn; three brothers; one sister; and her parents.
Priscilla was born Feb. 13, 1931, in Elgin, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Ida (Wilson) Erickson. She was united in marriage to Charles Groff on Jan. 15, 1951, in Iowa City. He died April 17, 2003. Priscilla was a member of the First United Methodist Church and American Legion Auxiliary Wapsi Post #421. She was a master gardner, Campfire leader and Sunday school teacher.
A memorial fund has been established in Priscilla's honor.
