Janet A. Erickson, 80, of Iowa City, passed peacefully away on Friday, June 1, 2018.
Janet was born May 27, 1938, the daughter of Kenneth and Geneva Hursey, in Dubuque, Iowa.
She is survived by her sons, John of Tiffin and David and his wife, Lori, of Iowa City; and her grandchildren, Christian and Abigail. Her sisters, Shirley of Iowa City and Mary of Burlington, also survive, as do three nieces, Janina, Rina and Mary Christine.
She was preceded in death by her parents and oldest son, Lee.
Janet graduated from Burlington High School and Southeastern Community College in West Burlington. In 1980, she became part of the original management group that brought cable TV to Iowa City with Hawkeye Cablevision. Following her early retirement from the cable TV industry, she finished her career as supervisor of the accessories department at Von Maur.
Janet was an avid reader, writer and lifelong learner. She was a member of many groups and volunteered at many places throughout her life. Janet loved all her special friends and appreciated how sincerely they touched her life.
An informal visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday, June 11, at Gay & Ciha Funeral Home. Janet's cremated remains will be interred at Rockdale Cemetery in Dubuque following the visitation at 1:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Herbert Hoover Foundation to be applied toward the Uncommon Student awards.
