A Cedar Rapids man faces burglary charges after police used tear gas to get him out of his residence late Wednesday, police said.
Keith A. Gogel, 42, was arrested on first-degree burglary charges for allegedly breaking into a Marion residence Wednesday afternoon and assaulting a man inside, police said.
Officers with the Cedar Rapids police Special Response Team, Marion police and deputies with the Linn County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant around 9 p.m. at Gogel's residence, 6524 Park View Ave. SE. Gogel was later arrested.
Marion police Lt. Scott Elam said Gogel is accused of breaking into a residence at 1101 18th St. in Marion. While there, Gogel allegedly assaulted Justin Miller of Vinton.
Miller was treated at a Cedar Rapids hospital for injuries, but was not admitted, Elam said.
Gogel was taken to the Linn County Jail.
An investigation is continuing.
