Joyce Ann McMillin Hermanstorfer, 71, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died at 2 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2014.
She was born March 14, 1943, in Ottumwa, to Ed S. and Hazelle M. Vest McMillin. She married Henry "Joe" Hermanstorfer on Oct. 26, 1961.
A 1960 graduate of Ottumwa High School, she worked for Northwestern Bell, AT&T, Kelly Services and Pearson NCS.
She was a member of the Presbyterian church. She had a strong heart. She was involved with Alliance for Retired People, CWA, IBEW, ARA, Hawkeye Labor Council, the Democratic Party and Special Olympics.
Surviving is her husband; a son, Todd (Bonita) Hermanstorfer; a daughter, Teri (Ross); three grandchildren; three brothers, Robert (Sandra) McMillin of Sun City, Ariz., and David McMillin and Michael (Joan) McMillin, both of Ottumwa; and two sisters, Carol McMillin and Cheryl (Tom) Sowle of Ottumwa.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother, Paul McMillin.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, May 9, at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa with the Rev. Eric Sunderland officiating. Burial will be in Agency Cemetery. Visitation begins at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial has been established to the University of Iowa Research for Women's Health.
