Like, Kenneth
Kenneth Like, 79, of Monticello, died Monday evening, Oct. 19, 2009, at his home following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held
11 a.m. Thursday at the Peace United Church of Christ, with interment in the Oakwood Cemetery. The Rev. Peter Wenzel will officiate at the services. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello.

Survivors include his wife, Marlene; three children, Don (Connie) Like, Dorothy (Frank) Ray, Diane (Jose Luis) Ramirez, all of Monticello; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Edna (Leonard) Mitchell of Apache Junction, Ariz., and a brother, Bob (Bernice) Like of Monticello.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and four sisters, Laura Ehlts, Mary Pearson, Jeanne McElmeel and Sally Prahl.
Ken worked as a truck driver his entire life. He started driving a dump truck for his father and later drove for Harms Way Trucking, Lambert Livestock in Monticello, Pape's and Warren Trucking in Dubuque before starting Ken Like Trucking in 1970. He sold the business to his son, Don, in 1990 but continued to drive until April of 2007. He also ran a lawn and garden service in his spare time. Ken married Marlene Etten at the Little Brown Church on Aug. 25, 1950.
