Bertha E. Pearson, 94, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, June 9, 2015. Funeral services: 11 a.m. Friday, June 19, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. The family will greet friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion.
Survivors include her daughters, Anita Watson of Cedar Rapids and Ethel Mary (Kenneth) Bauer of Mendota, Ill.; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and siblings, Mary Schupanitz and Joyce Reihmann.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wayne; siblings, LaVern Klaner, James Klaner, Louise Stambaugh and Leonard Klaner in infancy; one grandson; one great-granddaughter; and one great-great-grandson.
Bertha was born April 15, 1921, in Laurel, Neb., the daughter of George Klaner and Hazel Brink. She married Wayne Pearson on June 30, 1939. In addition to being a homemaker, Bertha worked at Rockwell Collins for 27 years.
She was a member of Rebekah Lodge, Marion Business Women, First United Methodist Church and church circles. Bertha was a very active volunteer. She enjoyed knitting and was known as the "Mitten Lady."
