LARRY A. PEARSON
Marion
Larry A. Pearson, 49, of Marion, died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2018, at St. Luke's Hospital surrounded by family from complications of a stroke. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 3, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 2, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel State Room. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Larry was born March 20, 1968, in Cedar Rapids, to Lewis and SeDalia (Della) Pearson. He graduated from Linn-Mar High School, Class of 1985. He worked for Electric Specialties in Marion as a machinist for 28 years. Larry had many friends and hobbies. He loved to go boating, spend time at the family cabin and watch sports, particularly the Dallas Cowboys and Iowa Hawkeyes. He enjoyed a challenge of repairing nearly anything, and when it came to helping someone he seldom said no and was always there to lend a hand. Larry was an excellent cook and liked to grill and smoke food. After his back surgery and partial recovery, Larry and his father returned to restoring his 95-year-old antique Model "TT" Ford truck. Together they have restored it to about 90 percent.
Leaving to mourn his passing are his father, Lewis and stepmother, Edith; a brother, Leland (Carol) Pearson; sisters, Kathy Bazyn and Judy (Paul) Hazlett; and several nieces, nephews and close friends.
Larry was preceded in death by his mother, Della; a stillborn brother; a brother, Randall; and great-nephew, Reese Pearson.
Many thanks to the doctors and staff for the great care Larry received at St. Luke's during his stay there.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Larry's honor may be directed to the family.
