Norma Maiers, 82, died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2014, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Memorial
services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids. The Rev. David Beckman will officiate at the service. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids. Final services will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Surviving are her children, Dr. Alan (Terry) Arata-Maiers of San Antonio, Texas, Audrey Maiers of Dyersville, Mark (Tina) Maiers of Huxley, Wayne (Denise) Maiers of Chantilly, Va., Joyce (James) Ferguson of Marion, Sherry (Greg) Brown of Colfax, Paul (Becky) Maiers of Fairfield, Kevin Maiers of Cedar Rapids and Ann Maiers of Cedar Rapids; 19 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Hittenmiller of Dyersville; and an aunt, Sister Joyce Horbach of Dubuque.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Gerald.
Norma was born July 9, 1932, in Templeton, Iowa, the daughter of Ambrose and Mary (Horbach) Bierl. On Sept. 1, 1952, Norma and Gerald Maiers were united in marriage in Dyersville, Iowa. Norma worked as a day care provider later on in her life. She enjoyed reading and traveling with Gerald.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend and will be missed dearly by those closest to her.
