Thomas Duane Lucore, 70, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center following an extended illness. Per his wishes, cremation has been accorded by Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. There will be no services held at this time.
Left to cherish Tom's memory are his wife, Connie; a brother, Dick (Pat) Lucore of Ohio; sister, Joan Ryon of Cedar Rapids; brother-in-law, Richard McGee of Cedar Rapids; sister-in-law, Pat Sheffey of Tennessee; four nephews; and two nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Rhonda.
Thomas was born Nov. 18, 1945, to Dick and Esther Bowers Lucore in Cedar Rapids. Tom graduated from Washington High School in 1963. He was united in marriage to Connie McGee on Oct. 21, 1967, in Cedar Rapids. Tom worked at P&H-Goss, Cedarapids Inc. and Terex. He later retired from Kirkwood Community College as a custodian.
Tom was a member of S.C.C.A., Good Guys, NHRA and IMSA. He was very involved in automobiles. He enjoyed building street rods and was a crew member in both S.C.C.A. and IMSA Road Racing.
Tom was the owner of a used car lot called Lucore Auto. He was a collector of many beautiful cars. His involvement in motor sports and love of automobiles allowed him to find long-lasting friendships that he treasured very much.
