ISU's Niang broke bone in foot, done in NCAAs

Mar. 22, 2014 12:10 am
SAN ANTONIO -- Iowa State forward Georges Niang suffered a fractured fifth metatarsal -- a long bone -- in his right foot in the second half of Iowa State's 93-75 NCAA tournament win over North Carolina Central Friday night, and apparently will play no more basketball this season.
"I landed on someone's foot and hurt my right foot," Niang said in the Cyclones' AT&T dressing room after scoring a team-high 24 points despite leaving the game with 7:34 remaining.
The Cyclones play North Carolina Sunday at 4:15 p.m. in the next round of the NCAAs.
"I'm going to be with them, I'm going to be there regardless," Niang said. "I'll be the loudest cheerleader we have if that's what it comes down to."
