AMES - New Iowa State offensive coordinator will make a base salary of $350,000 in the 2014 season, according to his two-year contract, which university officials revealed Monday.
Mangino - a national head and assistant coach of the year in the past - could see his salary jump to $375,000 in July, 2015, the contract shows.
Mangino was introduced as fired offensive coordinator Courtney Messingham's replacement last week.
He's valued not only as an offensive mind but also as a recruiter.
But before he could bring those talents to Ames, he had to be recruited himself.
"(Rhoads) gave me a good recruiting pitch," Mangino said last week. "I'm going to take a few tips when I go on the road for them."
Messingham, according to FootballScoop.com, made $302,000 last season.
His offense's averaged 24.8 points the past two seasons.
Mangino's 2007 Jayhawks offense averaged 42.8 points.
That team also beat Gene Chizik-led ISU 45-7 that season.
"If he can do half of what he did against us, we'll take it," ISU athletics director Jamie Pollard said last week. "They were explosive."
